Get ready for some Ufotable magic through Witch On The Holy Night
Ufotable, the studio behind cult hit Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has announced a brand new movie called Witch On The Holy Night (Mahōtsukai no Yoru). The series began as a visual novel back in 2012, and was available for Windows PCs and was a great success. It tells the story of a town where a young mage and a witch lived, and various circumstances causes them to put their abilities to the test.
The story
Witch On The Holy Night is set in the 1980s, towards the end of the Shōwa era. We are taken to an old mansion located in Misaki town, which is rumored to house a witch. The rumors were indeed true, and a witch named Alice Kuonji lived there. Alice begins to tutor a young girl named Aoko Aozaki, who moved in to the mansion. Unbeknownst to the townfolk, both Alice and Aoko have been secretly eradicating mysterious intruders who pose a threat to the town. However, things change when a young man named Soujuurou Shizuki, who is a stranger to the town, also comes to live with them. His presence starts affecting the lives of the two magi.
The series was introduced as a game, even though it is linear and the player will not have to make choices. They can read the story as they move forward, with brief animations in between.
The teaser
The teaser does not share the plot, even though many already know the story. It briefly showed the characters, and the producers’ names. We are yet to know Witch On The Holy Night’s release date and voice actors for the characters. Since the teaser is out, the safest estimation for the movie’s release date will be late 2022.
