More news will be arriving during the upcoming Jump Festa
We have updates coming for the highly anticipated Spy x Family! The anime will reveal a new promo as well as cast announcements during Shueisha’s Jump Festa which will take place on December 18. The manga series written by Tatsuya Endo has gone to become a major hit over the last two years, that many got wind of an upcoming anime even before it was announced.
Spy x Family is aiming for a 2022 release, with more information to come.
What’s to happen
We got to hear some information regarding the series on the first announcement. We know that Kazuhiro Furuhashi (Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal) to be the director, CloverWorks and Wit Studio to be the joint producers, and Takuya Eguchi to be the voice actor of the male lead, Loid Forger.
In the upcoming Jump Festa, we will get to know the voices behind the two other members of the Forger family – Yor Forger, the female assassin and Anya, the 4-year-old who can read minds. The series will have Kazuaki Shimada as character designer, and [K]NoW_NAME as composer.
The story
Spy x Family was given an official synopsis by Crunchyroll, with the story set against the backdrop of a fierce war between two nations: Ostania and Westalis. Twilight is the most talented spy from the Westalis Intelligence Services’ Eastern-Focused Division (WISE), and he’s sent to investigate the whereabouts of Donovan Desmond, the chairman of Ostania’s National Unity Party, the main force that keeps disrupting any chance of reconciliation between the two nations.
For acquiring intel on a mission, Twilight is given the task to form a family within a week. He takes the identity of psychiatrist Loid Forger, adopts a girl named Anya who can read minds, and a woman named Yor, who is unbeknownst to him, an assassin. The three keep their secrets hidden and start the mission, titled ‘Operation Strix.’
