The group was about to perform “Butter”
Hotties I was so excited to go to the @AMAs and perform with @BTS_official, but due to an unexpected personal matter, I can no longer attend 😭😭I’m so sad! I really can’t wait to hit the stage with my guys and perform #BTS_Butter real soon!💜

Megan Thee Stallion in her tweet, which came out on November 20, explained that she will not be able to make it to the awards show, which is scheduled for 21st November. The rapper was featured in a special remix of the global hit back in August, and this would’ve been their first joint performance. While this can be a major downer for fans, Megan did say that she can’t wait to perform it with them “real soon.” She soon got a reply from the AMAs on Twitter, who said that they will miss her.
This will be BTS’s first appearance at the music awards, and while their performance with Megan Thee Stallion won’t be happening, they will still get to perform with Coldplay in their recent collab single “My Universe.” The boy band is scheduled for two performances, so it is very likely that they will have a solo performance aside from performing with Coldplay.
About the AMAs
The 2021 AMAs will be hosted by Cardi B, and will be held at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 21st at 8 pm ET/PT. It will be available for streaming on ABC live, and Hulu on the 22nd in the United States. It will be broadcast across 120 countries in their respective channels.
The awards are declared through fan voting, with a person able to cast one vote per category. They were closed on Tuesday, November 16.
Many performances will be there, including Jennifer Lopez’s “On My Way” from her new movie Marry Me.
The union between BTS and Megan Thee Stallion was something fans were excited for but alas!
