‘Boruto: Naruto Next Generations’ Kicks off Chunin Exams, Familiar Rounds Return!

More training is necessary after the last Otsutsuki attack

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations returns with a new arc of Chunin exams. The anime has finally wrapped up the fight against Isshiki Otsusuki and we are yet to see how the manga deals with the aftermath. Whether more remnants of Kara exist is unknown at this point. In the meantime, the anime will explore more original stories, and one of them is how the Hidden Leaf’s public reaction to the recent Otsutsuki fight.

The new Chunin exams

In the last Chunin exams held for Boruto and his classmates, we saw a major interruption due to an Otsutsuki invasion. This time, the exams are held to deal with the overall unease and also be prepared for anything that comes next. The Hidden Leaf is looking to get more shinobi classified as Chunin captains and be out in the field as soon as possible. But Boruto and his friends find out that things are very different this time.

In episode 221, Naruto reveals that his plan for helping his village recover is by promoting more Chunins. This means Boruto and the other Genins are set through some grueling examinations. The first part is of course, the written exams where we see the youngsters try to pass some difficult questions. Much like the one we saw in the original Naruto series, many of them try to help other cheat here as well.

We got to know that the other great nations were also holding their Chunin exams in line to the Hidden Leaf Village. The second phase is the familiar Forest of Death, and episode 221 wraps up in the midst of the forest missions. It seems like this arc will carry on to the rest of November, as we have yet to see the final round. The last round will be the Genin who have cleared the Forest of Death fighting each other.
