After making its Netflix US debut, Pokémon will be back with the new season of Pokémon Journeys: The Series
Pokémon currently has 23 seasons, going back to 1997. Adding to that, there are many movies as well, so if anyone’s planning to start, you will need to go through a lot of content. With every new season, there’s a Pokémon game as well. Right now, Netflix has become the exclusive home of the series and has made Pokémon Journeys exclusive, along with the movie, Mewtwo Strikes Back, which came earlier this year.
Story and release date
Ash Ketchum has finally become a Pokémon master and is travelling back to his home of Pallet Town in Kanto. On the way, he meets another trainer named Goh, and the two get hired by Professor Oak’s protege, Professor Cerise, to work in his new research lab. Ash has a new objective, of battling every strong trainers he meets, and for Goh, it is to catch one of every type of Pokémon in the world.
The show has faced a two month delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was put on hold between April 19 and June 7. The second season will be coming to Netflix on September 11, 2020. When the show was initially announced, it was said that new episodes will get released quarterly for the “duration of the season.” It will consist of at least 12 episodes, but some say there could be 13.
As for whether we can expect more of Pokémon Journeys: The Series, the answer is still unknown as Netflix has required rights for the 23rd season, which has now been made into two parts. We will be announcing as soon as they decide to make the 24th season.
