Don’t miss the premier of ‘Inside The World’s Toughest Prisons’ Season 5 on Netflix in January 2021

Having established itself as one of the best Netflix original documentaries, the show will have a global premiere on January

Inside The World’s Toughest Prisons started off on British television station Channel 5, before getting picked up by Netflix starting from its second season. One of the hidden gems in the streaming service, the documentary follows ace journalist Raphael Rowe visiting and enduring the harshest conditions in some of the toughest, most heavy-duty prisons around the world.

Rowe is no stranger to the prison system after getting wrongfully convicted and imprisoned for the 1990 M25 Three murder and burglary case.

Out of all the seasons till now, season 3 is considered the best. It released in December 14, 2018, and season 4 arrived in July 2020. That’s right, we didn’t even have to wait a full year after finishing season 4.

Till now, Rowe has visited prisons in Paraguay, Costa Rica, Brazil, Ukraine, Belize, Mexico, and Poland. Some of the best prisons we saw were in Germany and Norway, but that’s also because those prisons house some dangerous individuals.

Season 5 is also expected to have 4 episodes, or maybe 3 based on the countries listed in the trailer. We can see when it starts streaming on January 8, 2021.

If you’re a fan of the show, you might also want to check out Second Chance, a podcast where Raphael Rowe works as the host. Now having 16 episodes, the series addresses numerous topics surrounding the prison system and the political issues that are involved in them as well.

As for a sixth season, we can’t guarantee anything at this point since we rarely ever receive news of them happening until a month before the season releases. But we will be updating once we get information.
