How soon can we expect to see Kratos return since the PlayStation 5 is almost in the market?
God of War is one of Sony’s prized possessions and has enjoyed a solid run since it’s release in 2005. The violent, story-driven, Norse adventure has collected millions of die hard fans who have stayed loyal to it in its 14-year lifespan. Another reason could be that with every game, it just keeps getting better. And with the last release in 2018, which was also titled God of War, we got to see Kratos play a hard-boiled father for his teenage son Atreus and guide him through his life. The game stayed true to its roots and was entertaining in every means possible.
With the release of the PlayStation 5 console looming closer, we are waiting for Sony to make an announcement about God of War 5. It’s creator Santa Monica Studio hasn’t revealed a date about its release, they haven’t been taking it easy on dropping clues and teasers left and right all over the internet.
Studio Reports
Game director Cory Barlog started dropping hints since March 2020 and said that the game has been in development for a while now. Then he revealed in May that a major boss fight against a demonic bird when the father-son duo reached Helheim had been cut for the previous game but they weren’t able to add it as the game was approaching it’s deadline.
This means that many leftover assets from the 2018 game could be used in the upcoming one. The studio was also looking for new talent as well: one for a Lead Writer and another for a Technical Art Lead. They didn’t mention what game it was for but one can only assume. This could mean that they would be starting a story from scratch instead of continuing with the previous storyline.
We don’t know what events will be featured in the game but majority of the reports are stating that it can be about Ragnarök.
