The Flash Season 8 to Show Armageddon Event; Team-up with Atom and Batwoman Teased

The season marks Brandon Routh’s official comeback as Ray Palmer

The CW‘s The Flash season 8 is gearing up for the “Armageddon” crossover event, where he will be teaming up with Ray Palmer, aka the Atom (Brandon Routh).

Shortly after the series got renewed for the eighth time, it was announced that the first five episodes will serve as a crossover with other Arrowverse shows. So, we will see Barry team up with Batwoman‘s Javicia Leslie, Black Lightning‘s Cress Williams, Supergirl‘s Chyler Leigh, and Arrow‘s Katherine McNamara, aside from Routh.

In a promotional photo shared by TVLine from The Flash’s upcoming episode, we see Barry and Ray staring open mouthed at something in the sky, which was previously mentioned as an alien threat. A damaged taxi cab can be seen behind them.

Atom’s appearance is in part 1 of Armageddon, meaning there will be four more episodes after this. The event is described as follows: When a powerful alien threat arrives on Earth under mysterious circumstances, Barry, Iris, and the rest of their allies prepare for battle as the fate of humanity hangs upon it. But as they understand later on that they’re not enough on their own, Barry takes help from some old friends so that they can save the day.

It was a welcome surprise to know that Routh was returning to the Arrowverse. His character first appeared in season 3 of Arrow and later became part of Legends of Tomorrow in 2016. Him leaving the show was part of a creative decision to wrap up Palmer’s story, and the actor wasn’t too pleased at that. Routh had said that he was “saddened” to see his story end, and that he wanted to play the role for more years.

Hopefully, with this return, we might be able to see his character from time to time in the Arrowverse. With all new developments, The Flash is being highly anticipated by the fans.
