Eilish released her sophomore album Happier Than Ever in the Summer, and Rudd has two projects – Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and Apple TV+’s The Shrink Next Door.

Eilish first appeared on the long-running NBC show in September 2019 as a musical guest, and is now making her official debut as a host. She will also be doing double duty as a host and musical guest on December 11, similar to artists like Nick Jonas, Harry Styles, Stevie Wonder, Willie Nelson, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, MC Hammer and Debbie Harry. The trend started with Paul Simon in 1975.

Meanwhile Rudd, who is going to be the host for the fifth time, will not just be in to promote his projects, but also in celebration for being People Magazine’s ‘Sexiest Man Alive.’ He will appear in the final episode of Saturday Night Live airing on December 18 with musical guest Charlie XCX, whose next album Crash will release in March 2022.

Saturday Night Live is going all out with having Eilish and Rudd host the two final episodes, but their November line-up wasn’t bad in the slightest. This week, we had Shang-Chi star Simu Liu as the host with Saweetie as the musical guest, and the week before, Lovecraft Country star Jonathan Majors hosted it with Taylor Swift as the musical guest.
