An advocate and the “Queer Eye” star Jonathan Van Ness bears his soul on Tuesday in a memoir. In this memoir, Jonathan Van Ness talks about his battling drug addiction, being sexually assaulted when he was just a child, forced to have sex with older men while being a teen and what more being diagnosed with HIV.
During an interview that was published in the New York Times on Sunday, Jonathan Van Ness has revealed himself for the outer world and talked about his book titled “Over The Top: A Raw Journey to Self-Love.” Jonathan Van Ness shared his vulnerability and said that he had disclosed certain things that he has never thought about sharing them publicly.
Jonathan Van Ness, during the interview with the New York Times, has said that he had had nightmares every night for about three months because he was scared to show his vulnerability to the world. Jonathan Van Ness has drowned himself in tears and coffee while he talked about his childhood and nightmares.
Jonathan Van Ness has reflected that the pain in his tumultuous life started way too early when an older boy from Jonathan Van Ness’ church has abused him. Jonathan Van Ness has referred to this as the beginning of the “compounded trauma” which is endured by survivors of sexual assault.
Jonathan Van Ness has then adorably described himself as a “little baby queen” and revealed that he was raised in a supportive home located in Quincy, Illinois.
Jonathan Van Ness has informed The Times that during his high school, Jonathan has stood out for all the wrong reasons. He then went on to say that he was too fat, too unlovable and too loud. He then revealed that since he was very uncomfortable with his way of life, he sought comfort by having sexual encounters with older men that he frequently met on AOL chat rooms on the Internet.
