If ‘The Fault In Our Stars,’ ‘Paper Towns’ and ‘Turtles All The Way’ forced you to shed a tear, then be prepared for the upcoming series, ‘Looking for Alaska,’ based on the story of John Green’s book that goes by the same name.
After the heart touching movies based on John Green’s books, a new television series adapted from the author’s novel is on the board. His latest book, ‘Looking for Alaska’ is being turned into a television series, the first trailer of which got released on 13th of September, 2019. The movie will get launched on Hulu.
The main lead in the movie is being played by Charlie Plummer, who is quite renowned for his works in ‘All the Money in the World’ and ‘Broadwalk Empire.’ The story begins with Miles Halter (Charlie) moving to Alabama, leaving behind Florida, to get admitted into a boarding school. The boarding school leads him to meet Alaska Young (portrayed by Kristine Froseth), whose charming personality makes Miles develop feelings for her. The plot experiences a twist when the former found out some shocking revelations of Young’s past that after that, hampers Miles, Young, and their other friends.
Green, like every other penned work of his, has put together the perfect amount of drama, suspense, and emotions in this plot.
Along with this, some other aspects, like drugs, grief, anxiety, sex, and depression, has been included, which reflects the level of maturity amongst the teenagers.
The book was launched in the year 2005. In the year 2006, it received the American Library Association’s Michael L. Printz Award. Following the award, ‘Looking for Alaska,’ got banned from several middle and high schools in the state. The teachers and parents were worries as they held the view that their children would grab the language of the book and would be exposed to adult vocabulary penned on every page of the book. Some others were of the view that reading the book would “lead a student to sexual experimentation.”
The series will get released on 18th of October, 2019 on Hulu.
