House of the Dragon Finale Teases Preparation For The Dance of the Dragons

Rhaenyra and the blacks are getting ready (spoilers ahead)

Season 1 of HBO’s House of the Dragon is coming to a close. The prequel, which took place 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, is already a fan favorite with its layered characters and compelling narrative. The Targaryens are ruling Westeros, and the seeds of war get planted when King Viserys Targaryen breaks tradition and names his daughter Rhaenyra the heir to the Iron Throne. Things get worse when Viserys doesn’t go back on his promise even after the birth of his son Aegon.

House of the Dragon Story So Far

Due to a massive misunderstanding between Viserys and Queen Alicent on his deathbed, Episode 9 of House of the Dragon sees the queen and the Hightower’s allies appointing Aegon as the ruler of Westeros, usurping Rhaenyra, the rightful heir to the Iron Throne.

The series is closely following George R.R. Martin’s novel Fire & Blood, where the two sides of the Dance of the Dragons are the blacks and the greens. The blacks are the faction that supports Rhaenyra’s ascension, while the greens support Aegon.

The new stills show Rhaenyra’s return, after being absent for the entirety of Episode 9. The finale, titled “The Black Queen”, will show Rhaenyra, Daemon, and the other blacks hearing the news of Viserys’ death and the coronation of Aegon.

What To Expect

House of the Dragon
HBO

House of the Dragon Episode 9 was purely political, apart from Viserys’ passing. Fans are waiting for the war eagerly and want to see some fire and blood. Good news for them, because the season won’t be entirely planning and preparing. The dragons are believed to get dispatched, and war might start towards the end. Some characters are even believed to die. The season did a great job setting up characters in-depth, so it is time for the carnage to start.

House of the Dragon Episode 10 releases on October 23.
