Before we get into anything else, let’s talk about the suit. The naysayers are very few this time, because the designers knocked it out of the park. When the first concept art was released last year, fans did get excited about how awesome it looked. But sometimes, the real product fails to make the same impact. However, we can now see that the Blue Beetle costume is a work of art, and the team isn’t going to rely a lot on CGI.

The movie is currently undergoing principal photography in Atlanta, and we got to see that it was Maridueña himself in the costume and not a stunt double. Credits for the costume goes to Mayes C. Rubeo, who had worked previously on Thor: Ragnarok, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Wandavision.

Blue Beetle will be directed by Angel Manuel Soto (Twelve) with Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer penning the script. Jaime Reyes is one of the major Latino heroes, and him being part of a vast universe means a great deal to the Latino community. The movie was initially developed as an HBO Max exclusive, but with the pandemic restrictions lifting, Warner Bros. is making it theatrical.

As for the release date, we do not have something exact, but the execs said it will come out in summer 2023, so we are at least a year away from seeing Blue Beetle in action.
