The movie is reportedly titled Harbin
Hyun Bin’s next movie is going to be a spy action film called Harbin (literal title).
Director Woo Min Ho, who made a major impact in the Korean film industry with hits like Inside Men, The Drug King, The Man Standing Next, will be directing the movie. Hyun Bin decided to star in the movie after seeing the quality of the script, as well as his immense faith in the director, according to production company Hive Media Corp.
The story
When we hear spy action, our mind can naturally gravitate towards something James Bond-like, with thrilling car chases and high octane stunts and explosions. However, this movie is a period movie, set in the 1900s at Harbin, the capital of China’s northernmost province Heilongjiang. It tells an emotional story of a group of Korean independence activists who risk their lives to take back their homeland. There will still be action in the movie, as the story is centred around conflict, and conflict often becomes physical.
The movie is produced by Hive Media Corp, who had previously released Inside Men, The Man Standing Next, and Deliver Us From Evil which starred Squid Game lead star Lee Jung Jae. It will also be hiring some of the country’s best production crew, including camera director Hong Kyung Po who did Deliver Us From Evil, Parasite, and the Hollywood movie Snowpiercer.
Production status
Hyun Bin, best known for the successful Netflix show Crash Landing on You had last been reported to be working on Confidential Assignment 2: International, another detective story. He is also engaged to be married to his Crash Landing co-star Son Ye Jin in 2022.
Harbin will reportedly begin production in 2022. Hyun Bin will start shooting immediately.
