2021 Mnet Asian Music Awards: Ed Sheeran to Perform, Surprise Collaborations to Happen, and more

2021 Mnet Asian Music Awards just became the highly anticipated event of the year!

We are less than a month away from the 2021 MAMA awards function, and we have received some big news.

On November 16, a global press conference about the event was held at 10 am KST, and the itinerary for 2021 Mnet Asian Music Awards was laid out. This year’s event will be offline, with an in-person audience, albeit a small one. Chief producer of Mnet, Park Chan Wook explained that while they were not able to have a large gathering, it is still something to have the artists and audience meeting. They will also be following strict disease prevention guidelines laid out by the government.

The news of Sheeran performing at 2021 Mnet Asian Music Awards has certainly become a game-changer. Park Chan Wook was the one who gave the information. He said that after writing BTS’s ‘Permission to Dance’ and releasing ‘Bad Habits’ which became one of the most-loved pop songs in Korea this year, he is invited. He is currently preparing for his performance.

It was revealed a few days ago that Wanna One, who had disbanded in 2019, will be reuniting to perform, and Park Chan Wook said that they’re all full of anticipation and are hoping to create something that will be like a gift for the fans. There will also be special performances by the eight crews of Street Woman Fighter, and a collaboration stage between members of the top fourth generation K-pop groups.

Evaluation criteria and categories will be different this year. Fan votes will no longer be one of the criteria in finding out the Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year awards. They will only be used for the Worldwide Icon of the Year and Worldwide Fans’ Choice Top 10 awards.

More information on the list of performers and further details about 2021 Mnet Asian Music Awards will be provided soon.
