The series is coming late this year for a limited theatre run before returning next year

Damien Chazelle returns in the director’s chair with Babylon, a period piece detailing the time when the Hollywood film industry went from silent films to talkies. The trailer shows the absolute chaos that took place when this happened and is surrounded by glitz and glamour throughout. Let’s take a closer look.

The trailer for Babylon is full of jazz, life, and of course, chaos. Margot Robbie appears as a hopeful young artist, hoping to make it big in Hollywood. We see her sharing her hopes and dreams while snorting coke and getting drunk. Pitt stars as an established Hollywood star, also trying to adjust to the changing industry. The rest of the trailer covers what goes down when the two of them meet.

The movie wrapped up in October 2021, and was a huge task for Chazelle and the cast members. Bryan Mendoza, one of the production crew members says its one of the harder films he worked on. Chazelle, known for directing hits like Whiplash and La La Land, himself stated to Vanity Fair that this movie had been in his mind since he moved to Los Angeles 15 years ago. He began writing in 2018 after The First Man released.

Aside from Pitt and Robbie, Babylon consists of a stellar cast including Tobey Maguire, Samara Weaving, Jean Smart, Li Jun Li, Jovan Adepo, Katherine Waterston, Flea, Lukas Haas, Olivia Wilde, Rory Scovel, P.J. Byrne, Spike Jonze, Chloe Fineman, Jeff Garlin, and Max Minghella. Due to it housing so many stars and so many events, the movie will have a runtime of three hours and five minutes.
