‘1899’: Netflix Teams Up With the Creators Of ‘Dark’ For New Horror Drama

A new motion poster for 1899 is out!

1899 is the next period piece from Netflix, but with a deeply unsettling premise as well as motion poster. After all, the series comes from Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar, the creators of the highly-acclaimed Dark, which received three seasons and is considered to be one of the best international sci-fi series ever created. Seeing how highly it was praised, it is clear that the new series has a lot to live up to.

Check out the poster below.

About 1899

The poster for the series shows a steamship sailing towards a massive triangular hole in the ocean, a watery abyss. The tagline read, “What is lost will be found.”

The trailer for 1899 is as cryptic as it gets, with a lot going on. While the hole in the ocean and the triangular symbol are the primary motifs, as it has been found in letters throughout the teaser, many other events are also happening, perhaps eventually forming a connection between all the events in a neat triangular manner. Online speculations suggest that it will involve the Bermuda Triangle, still one of the biggest mysteries of our planet. What we can say is that it will tell the story of a group of illegal immigrants traveling from Europe to New York to start a new life.
