As per court records, the ex wanted the current husband to have a permanent facial scar
The incident occurred in 2015, but recently, Real Housewives of New Jersey star Dina Manzo’s ex-husband, Thomas “Tommy” Manzo has been arrested for planning and issuing an assault on her current husband David Cantin.

Manzo had earlier pled not guilty on the charges that stated that he hired a mobster to beat up Cantin. His lawyer also stated that his client was innocent and these statements sounded similar to the plot of a reality TV show.
The case
U.S. Attorney Craig Carpentino laid out all the charges in which he stated that Manzo had hired John Perna, a mobster who had been allegedly linked to the Lucchese Crime Family. Also mentioned was that Perna had been given a discounted rate to hold a grand wedding reception at Manzo’s Brownstone Restaurant located in Paterson, New Jersey.
As per the Department of Justice, the wedding took place in August 2015 and had around 330 people, including members from the Lucchese Crime Family.

The indictment for the case stated that Manzo was allegedly upset at Cantin for being in a relationship with his ex-wife and wanted to “leave a permanent facial scar.” Also stated was that Manzo gave Perna and an accomplice information regarding Cantin (who is named Victim 1 in the statement) who then followed him to a strip mall while carrying a weapon called a slap jack, with the intention to dish out permanent injury.
Both Manzo and Perna face a total of 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000 just for the racketeering.

Meanwhile Dina had met Cantin in 2015 and moved to California the same year. They got married in 2017.
