Nick Fury: The Man Who Brought the Avengers Together – A Review

Nicholas “Nick” Joseph Fury is a skilled spy, former Director of S.H.I.E.LD. and the founder of the Avengers Initiative. Before S.H.I.E.L.D. was found, he served in the United States Army during the late sixties and rose to the position of Colonel before leaving it all and joining the CIA during the Cold War.

Meeting the Supers

It was during the 1990s that Fury met Carol Danvers and together faced off against the StarForce. Together they provided a safe haven for the Skrulls and kept them a secret from the rest of the world. In return, they requested the Skrulls to lend their support during times of crisis.

After being appointed as the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. by Alexander Pierce, Fury spent the next 15 years proceeding with the Avengers Initiative. His goal was to unite powerful individuals and protect the Earth from extraterrestrial threats.

Once he assembled the team, he had them fight against Loki as he invaded Earth looking for the Tesseract. While the Avengers had no intention of working together, their common goal united them and they soon became a solid team and faced against threats like remaining HYDRA organizations.

During the Winter Soldier threat, Fury had to fake his own death inorder to expose that HYDRA had infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D with Alexander Pierce as it’s head.

Later, after Thanos got all the stones and wiped out half the universe, Fury, along with Maria Hill also got wiped off. But he sent a distress signal to Captain Marvel before his death and she came down to help the Avengers. Afterwards, we got to see him in Avengers: Endgame during Tony Stark’s funeral.

His last screen appearance till now has been in Spider-man: Far From Home where he asked for Peter’s help in solving the crisis in Europe. But towards the end of the movie, we got to see that both Fury and Agent Hill were Skrulls and the real Fury was taking a vacation on the Talos’ flagship. It ended with Fury ending it and going back to work.

We are not certain when Samuel L. Jackson will be making his return as Fury and don’t have any details about his contract with Marvel.
