This would make it the actor’s first major TV role
This is quite the exciting news, and it involves Keanu Reeves, thereby making it more exciting. The actor, who was last seen The Matrix Resurrections is in talks to star in Hulu‘s series adaptation of Erik Larson’s famous novel, The Devil In The White City. The project was first announced in 2019, and Hulu promised that it will be a big budget series.
Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese’s involvement
The book was released in 2003, and Leonardo DiCaprio brought its film rights in 2010, and had initially planned it as a feature film to be directed by Martin Scorsese and produced by Paramount. While the studios changed, Leo and Martin remained on board, and will also be executive producing along with Rick Yorn, Sam Shaw, Jennifer Davisson, and Stacy Sher. The first two episodes are going to be directed by Todd Field (Little Children).
The Devil in the White City is based on a true story and is centred around two men – a brilliant architect named Daniel H. Burnham, and a serial killer/ doctor named Henry H. Holmes. He creates his own pharmaceutical named “Murder Castle” where he seduces young women before killing and mutilating them. Their paths cross during The Chicago World’s Fair of 1893, and a path of romance, mystery and murder opens up.
In other news, Keanu Reeves showed his saintly side after he donated a massive chunk of his earnings from the first Matrix movie for cancer research. The 57-year-old star was reportedly paid $10 million upfront when he signed in, and earned $35 million after the movie’s massive success. The actor then promptly donated $31.5 million for leukaemia research. It was something really close to Keanu Reeves’ heart after his younger sister Kim battled it for eight years at that time. Kim entered remission in 2011 after battling it for 10 years. Keanu Reeves had been donating to the cause ever since.
