The Senorita singers had been together for two and a half years
Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello have been one of the internet’s favourite celebrity couples, but to everyone’s shock, they announced their break up on Wednesday. Both if them took to Instagram to announce that they had decided to “end their romantic relationship.”
Their statement
The couple wrote that while they are no longer romantically involved, they will continue to love each other as humans and that their love is stronger than ever. They started off as best friends, and will continue as best friends. As a final request, they asked fans for their support as they move forward.
It came as a surprise since the couple always showed that they were moving forward strongly, and even shared pictures of them celebrating Halloween together, wearing matching folkloric outfits to honour the Day of the Dead.
Moving in together
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the couple had moved in together in Miami, where the Cabello family resides. The couple regularly updated their Instagram feed with loved-up looking photos, and Camila Cabello had shared about living with Shawn Mendes, saying he makes her feel “braver, wiser, and better.” She had felt anxiety during the pandemic and Shawn helped her through it.
During an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Camila was asked if she got engaged to Shawn Mendes after she was noticed to be flaunting a ring on her left ring finger, but she denied them.
However, they did mention that they started to seek counselling to improve their relationship, and Camila spoke about it in October, during an interview with Glamour. It helped their relationship become more transparent, and she said it made them “trust each other so much.”
