Prince Harry and Prince William alleged that the ‘Panaroma’ interview was a contribution to their mother’s death
Some dear causes to the late Princess Diana are receiving a big payout from the BBC.
The British broadcaster was ordered by the court to pay a $1.6 million donation after former British Supreme Court Judge John Dyson conducted an investigation. The BBC paid the amount on Friday.

The BBC and the Death of Princess Diana
The investigation revealed that the BBC used “deceitful methods” to secure the 1995 interview with Princess Diana on the show Panorama. But that is just part of other things. In the interview, journalist Martin Bashir had secretly manipulated the late princess into thinking that her husband Prince Charles had an affair with William and Harry’s former nanny, Tiggy Pettifer. Bashir even produced fake bank statements to make his claim believable. Pettifer was able to get a “substantial” sum from the BBC in July. Then Diana’s former private secretary Patrick Jephson got an apology and money for the harm done by Bashir. Jephson donated the money to charity.
The interview with Princess Diana was a major scoop for Bashir, and it very well started a long chain of bad events. Diana had famously said in the interview that “there were three of us in this marriage,” hinting at Charles’ affair with Camilla Parker-Bowles. Diana also confirmed her affair with James Hewitt.
The Causes
Princess Diana supported many causes, and some of them benefitted from this donation. This includes The Leprosy Mission, Centrepoint, English National Ballet, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, National Aids Trust, The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, and The Diana Award. The organizations promised to keep the princess’s legacy alive.
