Get ready for the next open world adventures
Pokémon Day arrived, and as promised, the Pokémon Company made some big announcements. Let’s start with the new game titles: Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. The games are set to release for the Nintendo Switch in late 2022, and are going to be open world adventures.
Game details
Developer Game Freak announced that the new games will take an evolutionary step in the Pokémon main series. In the games, trainers are given an open world to explore. You will find numerous villages and wilderness, teeming with Pokémon (yes, even the skies). The two games are interconnected, and players get to choose different outfits for the trainers, depending on what game they are playing. Before heading off on your adventure, you will get to choose between some Pokémon: Fuecoco, the fire croc; Sprigatito, the grass cat; or Quaxly, the duckling. With your Pokémon partner, set out on an adventure of a lifetime.
Other updates
Aside from Scarlet and Violet, the Pokémon Company also gave updates on their existing titles. First, let’s talk about their latest launch, Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The game will get a software update called “daybreak” for free, later today. Then comes the ever-popular Pokémon Go. Go will get monsters from the Alola region, the region that debuted in Pokémon Sun and Moon.
The update will arrive on March 1st. Next up, Pokémon Unite will get some new features. The stand-out feature will be the “fury battles” that should already be available by now. Players are also going to get limited edition Pokémon Day gear if they log in today.
The company also announced that they are developing a new animated series set in the Hisui region from Arceus. It will arrive later this year.
