The Straw Pirates are officially assembled

Netflix has officially announced the main cast for their live-action One Piece movie!

A One Piece live-action adaptation had been announced by Netflix late last year, and now, we have an official cast. The streamer announced the group of youngsters who will be starring in the massive anime adaptation. Without further ado, let’s take a look at the Straw Hat Pirates.

The cast

Only the primary cast has been announced, with more announcements to follow. The Straw Hats became a massive crew, but at the start, it comprised of Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji.

Iñaki Godoy plays Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Tax Skylar as Sanji.

One piece cast

The series will be executive produced by creator Eiichiro Oda, who stated before that he had been working with Netflix and Tomorrow Studios on a Hollywood-sized adaptation on the beloved series. It had been announced a long time ago, but only started trending again last year. He added that they finalized on the cast after considering numerous criterias – the size of their mouths and hands, their voice, their height, of course their acting skills, and how they carry themselves. He said that they scouted for people around the world.

Other Netflix adaptations

One Piece
Toei Animation

One Piece is one among several popular manga/animes that are getting live action versions by Netflix. We will be getting the live-action Cowboy Bebop next week, and Yu Yu Hakusho and Gundam to be adapted somewhere down the line.

One Piece has been one of the longest-running series, and recently celebrated its 1000th anime episode as well. If this adaptation works, there will be plenty of source material to make future seasons.
