The film is set to release on April in Japan
Odd Taxi was one of the surprising hits of 2021, and I believe it’s still underrated compared to most shows. What’s surprising is that the manga also began serialization earlier this year and right after two volumes were released, the series got its anime adaptation. And now that the first season has wrapped up, it didn’t take long for the next exciting news to appear – a movie!

About the movie
The movie will be officially title Odd Taxi: Into The Woods. A teaser has been released, showing clips from the first season with some new ones in between. It can include scenes from the anime and might serve as an extension.
The reason for all the doubt regarding what the story will be is because season one did wrap up the story, and tied it up with a bow. The movie can even be a prequel, but figuring out what it could be is part of the fun.
The story
Without going into spoiler territory, I will provide a brief intro on what Odd Taxi is about. It tells the story of an awkward and eccentric cab driver named Odokawa. Odokawa is a walrus, and the other characters are also different animals. Similar to Beastars, the setting is quite dark, with criminals and people with dangerous secrets roaming around. The story pays equal attention to the people that come across Odokawa’s life, both the good and the bad. Odokawa’s conversations with his passengers lead him to dangerous places, including the case of a missing high-school girl. Within no time, the yakuza and the cops are after his tail and he has to fight for survival.
Odd Taxi: In The Woods will release in Japanese theatres in April 2022, while overseas release dates are still unknown.
