Netflix Super Bowl Ad

Netflix just dropped it’s Super Bowl ad for 2022. The trailer reportedly took about 8 months to work out, say the marketing executives at Netflix. The trailer featured some of the top Hollywood celebrities including Ryan Reynolds, Ryan Gosling, Jennifer Lopez and Kevin Hart among others.

The celebrities took time out from their busy schedules for this project. The team looked at the schedules, reached out to them. The film creators and the Netflix team together, decided which scenes to put in the final trailer. Both parties were very specific about which scenes to put.

How Did Netflix do That?

Both Reynolds and Gosling jumped back into their characters’ costumes as well. In the trailer, Reynold appeared as Adam from his upcoming movie “The Adam Project“. Gosling on the other hand, appeared as Court Gentry from “The Gray Man.”

Because of the exceptional marketing strategy of Netflix, the video garnered over 14 million views in 10 days. The marketing team revealed that the idea first came up a year ago. The creators of the films also liked this idea, according to the VP of original films marketing, Jonathan Helfgot.

Shortly after the release of the Super Bowl trailer Netflix dropped the trailer for “The Adam Project”, directed by the “Free Guy” creator Shawn Levy.

Why to Play the Video at Super Bowl?

The trailer that Netflix released would be reduce it to a 60 second clip. This 60 second clip would be played at the Super Bowl event. Super Bowl is the top-rated television broadcast.

The Netflix team certainly sees some merit in playing the trailer at the event. Other streaming service platforms for example Disney and Universal will also play their own trailers at the event. The main objective is not to get people to say to each other, “did you see that?”, according to Saint John.
