Jamie Campbell Bower discussed joining the Stranger Things cast for Season 4 on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon
Jamie Campbell Bower talked about playing Vecna, the primary antagonist of Season 4, in the show. Bower said on Tuesday that despite the praise for his performance, he “never ever believed I’d be on a show like this, let alone playing this thing.”
It’s great, it’s just such a blessing, and ever since I got it, everything has felt like such a whirlwind, according to Jamie Campbell Bower.
The physical change into the persona of Vecna, played by the British actor, is “approximately 90% real [vs CGI],” according to Fallon.
Bower stated, “We start at sort of 3 a.m. to be ready for around 10 and then I have to act. It takes about eight hours to put the full thing on.
In addition, Jamie Campbell Bower modified his voice for the part and admitted to Fallon that he wasn’t sure what voice to use before starting the job.
It took a few months to get it perfect, according to Bower. We performed the read-through, and while I was sitting behind Millie [Bobbie Brown] at the table with everyone and playing the voice, it started off sounding more like Freddy Krueger and just wasn’t landing.
Therefore, Bower continued, “I went home and worked on it, did a lot of reference work on it, did a lot of work on Hellraiser…and it indicated that this loud booming voice kind of bursts out of the darkness.
Since I sing, I just kind of relaxed myself and my larynx while working on that.
This served as a springboard for a discussion on Bower’s music.
In addition to his work as an actor, Bower is also a well-known musician who originally gained notoriety as a member of the British punk rock group Counterfeit.
After the band broke up in 2020, Bower started a solo career. His newest song, “I Am,” is set to be released on August 12.
His upcoming film starring Kevin Costner, which Bower described to Fallon as a “Western saga,” will be his next endeavour.
In October, I’ll be in Utah, riding a horse and donning a Stetson, said Bower. Jamie Campbell Bower abruptly ended the conversation by uttering a few peculiar words in Vecna’s voice. This includes phrases from ads, songs by Lizzo, such as “About Damn Time,” as well as dialogue from romantic comedies like Notting Hill and Titanic.
