Jake Gyllenhaal-Starring ‘Road House’ Officially Picked Up By Amazon Prime Video, Cast Announced

The movie is a reboot of the cult classic starring Patrick Swayze

Oscar and Tony-nominated actor Jake Gyllenhaal is set to headline Road House, the reboot of the 1989 classic movie of the same name starring Patrick Swayze. The movie will be produced by Amazon Studios and will release on Prime Video. Read on to find out more about the supporting cast members and production team.

Road House will be directed by Doug Liman, and the script will be written by Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry. Joel Silver, who had produced the original for MGM in 1989, will return for the reboot as well, under his banner Silver Pictures. Executive producers include Aaron Auch, JJ Hook, and Alison Winter.

Jake Gyllenhaal and Liman have been involved with the project since November last year. After no reports for more than half a year, Amazon suddenly announced the production. Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios said that the movie is a homerun for them. The movie is not only going to appeal to fans of the original, bit will be aimed at a bigger audience. Salke added that they are thrilled to be working with Doug and Joel, along with the great cast led by Jake Gyllenhaal.

Road House is a cult classic which remains close to the hearts of many. It told the story of James Dalton, a zen bouncer who is hired by a rowdy bar named Road House in Missouri. Within no time, Dalton meets the corrupt businessman who is controlling the small town.

The new movie will see Jake Gyllenhaal as a retired UFC fighter who takes the job of a bouncer in a rough bar in Florida, and starts uncovering secrets about the place and the town.

The movie will star Billy Magnussen, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Daniela Melchior, and Lukas Gage in supporting roles.
