Gong Yoo is Officially on Instagram! Debuts with a Funny ‘Squid Game’ Reference

Actor and singer Bae Suzy joins list of first followers

Gong Yoo, who was seen recently in the global hit Squid Game, is the latest celebrity to join Instagram. In less than a day, the South Korean superstar is close to hitting 1 million followers on the platform.

The news of his joining was shared by his agency Management SOOP. They stated that they had opened an Instagram account for the actor to share his daily life to his fans. They also added that Gong Yoo has no other social media, and that this account is managed by Management SOOP.

As for Gong Yoo’s posts, the first one was of a fried squid on a platter. This was in reference to his brief, but memorable role in the global hit Squid Game. His second post was of him wearing a black basketball jersey with ‘Gong’ and number 30 written on it. It had the official NBA logo at the back as well.

The actor, who has been a superstar in South Korea for movies like Silenced and Train to Busan, already has many famous people following him, including stars like Bae Suzy.

Gong Yoo will be next seen in Netflix’s highly-anticipated sci-fi drama series, The Silent Sea. The drama spans over 8 episodes and takes place in 2075, where the Earth is no longer inhabited due to exhaustion of natural resources. A group of scientists embark on a secret mission to a research facility on the moon to obtain a mysterious sample.
