Netflix original anime series Edens Zero is renewed for season 2!

The news was announced by the official anime studio J.C.Staff on February 8th. Below is the tweet shared via the anime’s official Twitter account.

The story so far

Written and illustrated by Hiro Mashima, Edens Zero first released as a manga series in 2018. As of November 2021, there are eighteen volumes. The anime aired from April to October 2021 and consisted of 25 episodes. In fact, Konami also announced a video game adaptation for the series.

The story starts on a deserted theme park world located in the Sakura Cosmos. Our lead character is Shiki Granbell, a human who lived among robots on the theme park. His idyllic life is interrupted when two outer space visitors show up – Rebecca Bluegarden and her robotic cat companion Happy. The robots in the theme park use them to get Shiki out, as their batteries were dying and didn’t want the young man to be on his own.

As a result, Shiki leaves with Rebecca and Happy to search for Mother, the fabled goddess of the cosmos. Before they left, mechanical Demon King Ziggy, who Shiki saw as his grandfather, gave a present. It was the titular interstellar warship known as Edens Zero.

Mashima stuck to the signature art form that he had used for his other works Fairy Tail and Rave. Even Happy returned, although in a robotic form. While season 1 didn’t garner the same hype as Fairy Tail, it did get a big fanbase.

However, the second season announcement was hardly a surprise because the it was revealed at the end of season 1. Also, there are a total of 178 chapters, so plenty of source material for the anime.

We hope the series gets more fun as the story progresses.
