Return to Night City this September
After a long wait, Netflix has dropped the first teaser trailer for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Then futuristic, flashy, and violent animated series comes from Studio Trigger, with CD Projekt Red and Netflix as the producers. Read on to know more about it.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Teaser and Story
The teaser for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners made sure to not give anything away about the story, apart from showing the protagonists. The story is set in Night City, the same location shown in the 2077 video game. The protagonist is a street kid named TK, an Edgerunner. They are the fixers, couriers, or mercenaries that exist within the Cyberpunk universe. The trailer gives the sound of a heartbeat monitor and shows the various events in short cuts, and we get to see the characters. Amidst all this, we see TK meet a woman on the surface of the Moon. It is likely that the woman is a BrainDance, or VR simulation.
Before we get to explore further, we are brought back to high octane chases, fights, and explosions. The heartbeat accelerates until the very end and comes to a stop when the title appears.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was announced back in January 2020, as the game neared its release. They also announced that it will consist of 10 episodes and will be all about the protagonist surviving to become an Edgerunner, or a cyberpunk.
Production Crew
Studio Trigger is definitely one of the best animation studios out there, and are behind popular series and movies like Promare and Kill la Kill. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will be directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi, with assistant director Masahiko Otsuka. Yoh Yoshinari will be in charge of character designs and Hiromi Wakabayashi will be the creative director. The score composition has been done by Akira Yamaoka.
While we do no have an exact release date, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will arrive on Netflix this September.
