BTS’ Jin Drops a Special Trot Song called “Super Tuna” as Part of his Birthday Celebration

It’s the big brother’s birthday!

BTS member Jin is celebrating his 29th today, and as a special surprise to the ARMY for the birthday wishes, he has released a song showcasing his love for fishing.

The song arrived on the evening of December 4, and is currently available on BTS’s official YouTube page and website. Titled “Super Tuna,” the song is a collaboration between Jin and others like BUMZU, who had assisted with background vocals and synthesizer, guitar by Park Gi Tae if PRISMFILTER, and mix and mastering by Anchor at PRISMFILTER MIX LAB.

“Super Tuna” falls outside BTS’s usual style, but is still colorful and upbeat. It is specifically a trot song, and belongs to the Korean pop genre that was popular during the 1960s and ’70s. It is slowly gaining momentum once more after appearing in TV Chosun’s Miss Trot and Mister Trot series. Thanks to Jin, it can achieve even more popularity. The song’s album cover is also hilarious and over the top, with Jin fishing while a trot is photoshopped over his body.

Jin mentioned that he got the idea after going on a fishing trip last September. The dance is funny and unique, with steps imitating the movements of fish and fishermen. Jin had stated in his VLive that he worked with choreographer Son Sung Deuk on the steps, and asked specifically for steps that were less serious, unlike the usual killer dance moves that him and his team members perform in their music videos and stage shows.

The song was able to entertain fans even though the other members weren’t involved, and Jin was able to bring forth his carefree and fun personality.
