This deer is not afraid of the headlights
After the nightmarish reveal of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, the creators are now back to ruin our childhoods again with a movie titled Bambi: The Reckoning. In a report by Dread Central, ITN Studios and Jagged Edge Productions are teaming up for their next project, even as Blood and Honey is awaiting release.
Bambi
The story of the roe deer, inspired by an Austrian tale, has been one of the most beloved animated Disney movies, despite being one of the saddest animated films ever made. The plot was all about the deer finding his identity and place in this world, and how to survive when there is danger lurking in every corner. Despite the character being in public domain since 2016, the makers are not allowed to use any elements incorporated by Disney, including the character’s appearance. So it’s tough to imagine how the deer will look.
About Bambi: The Reckoning
As the title suggests, this movie will be about revenge. Instead of making new friends in the wood and going on a journey of self-discovery, Bambi will instead go out to take revenge on the people who killed his mother. The film will be directed by Scott Jeffrey, known for Exorcist Vengeance, Kingdom of the Dinosaurs, and Spider from the Attic. He will join Rhys Frake-Waterfield, the director of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey.
Speaking on the movie, Jeffrey said that it will be a dark retelling of the 1928 original and will take inspiration from Netflix’s The Ritual. Bambi will be a vicious killing machine that works in the wilderness. He closed off by saying, “Prepare for Bambi on rabies!” If you have seen the 2017 Netflix film, the image of the deer-like monster must be in your mind. While the movies that Jeffrey had worked on proved to be lackluster in the end, they did contain some terrifying twists to classic stories.
