While muddled, the series retains its excitement (Spoilers ahead)
Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy season 3 is almost out, and it’s every bit as entertaining as we had hoped. The series specializes in creating chaos, while the comedy and serious moments don’t feel forced. The dysfunctional Hargreeves family has returned for their third mission in stopping the apocalypse, but them being them, preventing one thing usually leads to something else that is worse. With that, lets jump into season 3.
The Umbrella Academy Season 3 Events
Season 2’s end and season 3 trailers have been about the Umbrella Academy meeting the Sparrow Academy, the group made by Reginal Hargreeves after they changed the timeline. As the story goes, they find out that the Sparrows were born on the same day as the Umbrellas, and the reason they were adopted by Reginald was because he was so annoyed by the Sparrows. However, this creates a paradox known as a Kugelblitz, a black hole that can pull people and objects and automatically posing as a massive threat to all reality.
The Umbrellas usually spend times arguing among themselves, but this time, they are facing off against the Sparrows as well. But when the common threat becomes too big, they will have to set aside their differences to fight.
The Umbrella Academy Review
The main plot remains the same: saving the world. However, the new dynamics and certain events continue to keep things exciting, and you can’t help but laugh and be excited, even as the world is ending. Standout performances include Emmy Raver-Lampman as Allison, who is dealing with loss, Viktor, formerly Vanya (Elliot Page), and Diego (David Castañeda). The series might feel too contained since a lot is happening inside the mysterious Hotel Obsidian, which is very similar to The Continental, from the John Wick movies. Many questions are left unanswered by the end, and we can expect more seasons. But if they don’t give answers soon, The Umbrella Academy has a chance of becoming tiring.
