The story will be taking place in 1980s England
Mike Flanagan is back for the next outing after The Haunting of Hill House along with producer Trevor Macy. The next part of the anthology series will be known as The Haunting of Bly Manor.
The story will be set in England during the 80s where the death of an au pair (servant or nanny, mostly a young girl), makes Henry Wingrave (Henry Thomas) to hire a young American nanny (Victoria Pedretti) to care for his orphaned niece and nephew (played by Amelie Bea Smith and Benjamin Ainsworth) who stay at Bly Manor with the estate’s chef Owen (Rahul Kohli), groundskeeper Jamie (Amelia Eve) and housekeeper, Mrs. Grose (T’Nia Miller).
Story and release date
But the new governess soon finds out that the manor has its share of dark secrets of love and loss. The story will be about a young boy named Miles who gets expelled from boarding school and returns to his family home. Things soon take a turn for the worst when the governess, the housekeeper and Miles’ little sister Flora become the prime targets of the ghosts of a man and woman who haunts the manor. The story will follow a true gothic romance style.
The producing partners Flanagan and Macy had taken inspiration from Henry James’ The Turn of the Screw, and gave the original story, which was published in 1898, a modern touch. The other stars of the second season will be Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Kate Siegel, and Tahirah Sharif. As you can see, most of the cast members from the first season will be returning. The show has been produced by Flanagan and Macy for Intrepid Pictures, along with Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey for Amblin Television.
The series will start streaming on Netflix worldwide from October 9, 2020.
