Get ready for a bigger, more stranger season
Netflix has announced their plans for Stranger Things! The fourth season of the hit horror series is twice as long as previous seasons, and this caused some changes. Season 4 will now be split in two parts, and comes out on a gap of five weeks. Let’s check out Netflix’s plans in detail.
Netflix’s statement
The information was shared on Netflix’s website, and comes with a letter by the creators of the show, The Duffer Brothers. The duo explained that season 4’s runtime is almost double the size of the other three seasons, and will be split in two volumes. Part one of season 4 will premiere on May 27, and Part two will follow on July 1.
It was a long wait between season 3 and 4, and from the looks of it, it’s worth the wait. The Duffer Brothers added that there were nine scripts, with more than eight-hundred pages. It took them two years to film, as the pandemic was a major interruption. Season 4 was the most challenging season yet, but it was also the most rewarding one.
The brothers added that season 4 is the penultimate, and the story is “the beginning of the end.” The entire story was written seven years ago, and expected it to be made in five seasons. But the season 4 storyline was too big, and caused them to extend the season.
Season 4 plot
The official synopsis in Netflix reads that the story takes place six months after the Battle of Starcourt. Hawkins is picking itself up, and for the first time, the lead group of friends are separated. Meanwhile, they have to deal with the complexities of high school as well. At this time, a new, more horrifying supernatural threat emerges, and solving it can end the horrors of the Upside Down.
