The series maintains all the expectations and powers through at a brisk pace

Penn Badgley returns as the creepy, obsessive serial killer Joe Goldberg in season 3 of Netflix’s You. However, this time its different. Joe is married to Love (Victoria Pedretti) and the two are parents to a newborn son. Both Joe and Love make promises to cleanse themselves of their wicked past, and fit into the California suburbs. But its them, happily ever after just doesn’t sit right.

The show’s success

You
Netflix

You became one of the flagship Netflix Original series since its arrival in 2018. It’s a difficult process for shows to maintain the same flow it had before, and many get cancelled in the process. However, You stays strong, and maintains its flow while still brining new challenges for Love and Joe. The show is based on the novels by author Caroline Kepnes. The third season is based on her third novel, You Love Me, a New York Times bestseller.

Overall season

The season gives a solid, often darkly funny series of difficulties for Love and Joe as they become parents. With new challenges comes constant fights. But is it because of lack of sleep, or because they cant let go of their old ways? Their strong denial that its not the latter moves the story alone.

New cast members have arrived, and they play their parts well. Sherry Conrad (Shalita Grant) stands out as a “momfluencer.” With this, the show brings satire influencer culture. Joe’s attention gets taken by their new neighbor Natalie (Michaela McManus) and this invites jealousy from Love. And a person like Love wouldn’t make a good enemy.

We can still admit that the series becomes more unbelievable on how they get away with each murder. But yet, it still entertains us to the fullest that we can ignore that part, just so we can see more craziness. Before we wind up, You got renewed for a fourth season.
