The movie will mark Hemsworth’s second outing with the streamer
Chris Hemsworth had a successful outing in 2020 when he teamed up with Netflix for the action thriller Extraction. Now he’s reuniting with the streaming giant for in upcoming sci-fi Original called Escape From Spiderhead.
Escape From Spiderhead is directed by Joseph Kosinski, and is being written by Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and the screenplay is based on George Saunders’ short story of the same name.
The plot and cast
The story follows two convicts who volunteer as test subjects for a radical new drug in exchange for reducing their prison sentences. The drug is one that can alter emotions, and for both subjects, it impacts their ability to love and makes them question their own feelings and contemplate whether they are real, or just manufactured.
This was the plot of the story, but currently, we can’t say if the makers will be following the same pattern, or will be adding their own unique twists to it.
Aside from Hemsworth, the primary cast includes Jurnee Smollett (Birds of Prey), Miles Teller (Whiplash), Joey Viera (Dora and the Lost City of Gold), Sam Delich (Home and Away), and Mark Paguio (Bump).
Netflix has not confirmed the release date of the movie, but we do know that it’s going to release sometime in 2021. After all, the first glimpse of Escape From Spiderhead was found in Netflix’s 2021 film preview.
Let’s wait and see if Hemsworth’s second outing with Netflix becomes as successful as the first one. Extraction went on to become the most-watched Netflix Original of all time and got over 99 million views within the first four weeks.
