The song was released after fans requested for it
Penned by Jermaine Dupri, and featuring Usher, Ludacris, and Lil Jon, Sex Beat was released after being initially featured in Lil Jon’s Instagram live battle against T-Pain where fans got to hear a portion of the song and demanded it to be released. After a fair amount of time, Usher finally dropped the whole song in April.
Usher had previously collaborated with Lil Jon and Ludacris, in one of 2004’s biggest hits Yeah. Lil Jon did his signature ‘Yeah!’ for SexBeat as well, with Usher providing the lyrics and Ludacris giving the rap.
What’s more surprising was the song was not a recent venture of the three artists, but had been made 2 years ago. This came as a great shock to fans, and their demands to release it increased. During the live battle, Lil Jon said that he had discussed this track with Usher many times but Usher wasn’t comfortable with it and it remained unreleased.
Usher got to know about the song’s response and asked on Twitter to repost his tweet if they wanted him to drop the song, to which fans started responding with, “now Usher…you know we want that song LOL.”, while others told him to drop the song already as they were too old for such games. Fans loved the track and found it hard to believe that such a song had been left behind unreleased all this time.
