The movie was completed one year after its designated wrap-up
Director Matt Reeves had been absent from Twitter for a long time, and from the various set photos emerging from his next movie, The Batman, it was understandable that the director had his plate full. But now he’s back on Twitter, and announced that the film has wrapped up production.
He tweeted out, “#LastDay #TheBatman cc: @GreigfraserD,” giving a shout-out to his excellent director of photography. A few hours later, Reeves also retweeted actor Jeffrey Wright, who plays Commissioner Gordon in the film. The Golden Globe-winning actor had tweeted, “Gordon out. …for now. One year exactly after the shutdown. Some ride.”
What we know so far
We know that the new movie is going to be unlike anything we’ve seen so far as its going to show the detective side of Batman as much as the crimefighter side. While the plot is not out, the movie will have a younger, more angrier Batman out on the streets who follows a string of murders and discovers the corruption that is rooted deep into Gotham City.
The movie stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Colin Farrell as Penguin, and Paul Dano as the Riddler. Other cast members include Wright, Barry Keoghan, Peter Sarsgaard, Joe Turturro and others.
COVID-19 delays
The movie had its fair share of upsets due to the pandemic. Around 25% was completed when production shut down. Production resumed in September only to be shut down again when Pattinson tested positive for COVID-19.
The movie was originally set to release on October 1, 2021, but now it’s set for release on March 4, 2022.
