Street Fighter 6 Official Teaser Trailer Released by Capcom, and It Looks Fantastic

Get ready for round 6

Capcom announced the next big entry to their iconic fighting franchise Street Fighter. Titled Street Fighter 6, the trailer comes in celebration of the franchise’s 35th anniversary later this year. A 40-second teaser trailer is also out, and the improvements are surprising. Let’s discuss that in detail below.

The teaser

The new trailer showed only two characters – Luke and Ryu. The graphics look incredible and more realistic. Well, it could be considered realistic if you ignore Ryu’s massive proportions. He also looks older and calmer, and completes his look with sandals and a beard. Ryu had been barefoot for too long, so it’s about time. Meanwhile, Luke was introduced in Street Fighter V, as a sequel tease. So that is likely why he was added to the clip.

Long wait

Street Fighter V came out in 2016, and fans wondered why it took so long. It was speculated that Capcom was waiting for the modern development cycle. Game companies usually get wind of the release of new consoles earlier than gamers. They can now make Street Fighter 6 compatible with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The new Unreal Engine 5 will also be a great asset.

We can expect Street Fighter 6 to be more polished, as seen in the teaser. Its predecessor showed a lot of promise, but didn’t have enough content and came with bugs and server complaints. It was revised with the Arcade Edition and Champion Edition, and ended up selling more than six million copies. But Capcom learnt their lesson and will be more careful.

Capcom has announced that more news will arrive this Summer, so stay tuned.
