Rockstar finally Confirms Grand Theft Auto 6, Says “It’s Well Underway”

Now the wait begins

After nine long years, we have finally received an official confirmation on Grand Theft Auto 6. The news was confirmed by Rockstar Games themselves, and not an anonymous Twitter leaker.

It was revealed through a new press release, which can be seen below:

Well, there you have it. The spokesperson has confirmed that production is underway, and that they plan to significantly develop it over the previous works. We can now expect even more realistic graphics, that can run well in the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. GTA 5 came out in 2013, but still holds to most new-gen games, which is no simple feat.

We can believe that Rockstar Games always knows what they’re doing. Even though it has been 9 years since GTA 5 came out, it is still very relevant and continues to bring updates in its online mode. They also released Red Dead Redemption 2 in the meantime, which was another massive success.

The news concluded by saying that more updates will come as soon as they’re ready. In the meantime, fans can occasionally check out Rockstar Newswire for any information. But it is safe to assume that we are at least 2 years away from the game’s release. Perhaps we can expect an official trailer at next year’s E3 event.

Rockstar has remained mum on what the story will be, which is honestly not surprising. We can guess that production has begun, since IGN initially announced the game’s development in 2020. We even received news in between that Rockstar was hiring new game developers for a ‘mystery project’ sometime in early 2021.

However, many have already speculated about the story. Some said that GTA 6 will start smaller than GTA5, with updates making it bigger. Others think they will return to Vice City, which is modelled after Miami.

Let’s wait for the next bit of information.
