The royal wedding makeup of Meghan Markle was appreciated for being equally elegant and subtle. Everything was perfect, her eyes were delicately defined, her lips slightly enhanced, and the signature freckles shining throughout.
But, who was the inspiration for this classic beauty look? Well, you are in for a surprise! The Duchess of Sussex turned to a familiar site many soon-to-be-brides refer to Pinterest.
Why Pinterest?
That’s right. The Duchess uses Pinterest like any other social media enthusiast. Markle used the image-based social media website as an inspiration for her big day.
This was revealed in recent beauty podcast @Gloss_Angeles which is hosted by former POPSUGAR beauty editors, Kirbie Johnson, and Sara Tan. Makeup artist Daniel Martin spilled the beans, saying that he and Markle “exchanged a few Pinterest pictures over text”. He explained that Pinterest is a great tool of reference for wedding makeup. Though, he didn’t reveal details of the photos that were saved.
Martin is Markle’s longtime makeup artist. This meant that he was aware of Markle’s makeup likes and dislikes. Furthermore, this helped the two when both didn’t have time to get together for a trial.
Martin admitted that since they didn’t have a make-up trial, Pinterest became the perfect solution to make sure that their visions were aligned. Interestingly, Martin said that both had packed schedules- Markle was in England and Martin in the United States.
Makeup wasn’t the only thing that ensured Markle’s wedding-day beauty. Markle did get the time for a facial with British aesthetician Sarah Chapman. This helped in getting the glowing complexion for her wedding day.
On working with Markle, Martin said: “Meghan’s the most chill person. That morning was just easy. Nothing phased us. She’s still the same person.”
Meghan married Prince Harry on May 19, 2018, at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. Their first child, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor was born on May 6, 2019.
