Billie Eilish “Bad Guy” takes the top spot from Lil Nas X‘s “Old Town Road”!

The new song by Billie Eilish “Bad Guy” is breaking records. It has finally claimed the top spot on Billboard Hot 100 charts after being on the No. 2 position for nine weeks. The song has dethroned Lil Nas X‘s record-breaking “Old Town Road” after 19 weeks atop the charts.

The latest release from Eilish’s album “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” has knocked the longest-running song of all time from the No. 1 spot.

Since being on the second place for nine consecutive weeks, “Bad Guy” made the record for most weeks spent in the runner-up spot before claiming the top spot. Earlier, three songs have held this record: The Weeknd’s “Starboy,” Justin Bieber‘s “Sorry,” and OutKast’s “The Way You Move”.All these songs had spent eight weeks at No. 2 before asserting the Billboard Hot 100 crown.

Eilish now becomes the first-ever singer born in the 2000s to top the Billboard Hot 100.  In addition to that, she is also the youngest to lead the list since a then-16-year-old Lorde did in 2013 with “Royals.”

Meanwhile,  “Old Town Road” falls to third place after setting the record of maintaining the top place for 19 weeks. Furthermore, it’s now just one week away from breaking the record for No. 1 in digital song sales. The previous record was held by “Despacito”. The song featured Daddy Yankee, and later Bieber via a remix. It held the top spot in 2017 for 17 weeks.

The song  “Old Town Road” has gone on to become a phenomenon. It has also earned Lil Nas X a Time magazine cover.
