The celeb kid talked about her old insecurities with her natural hair on Red Table Talk

On May 27th’s episode of Red Table Talk, Willow Smith was discussing colorism, and the racial discrimination and prejudice that one faces from their same race with her mom Jada Pinkett Smith and grandma Adrienne Banfield Norris, along with family friends Mia and Madison. America had long been a country that stuck to the trends brought by the majority of its inhabitants, and discrimination was present, just like most countries where diversity is present. Willow admitted that she had struggled with her hair, and always envied her cousin’s hair and wished her own hair was longer and wasn’t so ‘kinky’.

Speaking on the issue, Jada stated, “The approximation to white is what is valued around the world, its global.” Willow later grew up to embrace her natural hair and never tried to hide it. This episode was shot before the lockdowns happened and Willow shaved off her hair.

Shaving her head was a symbolic act for her and she had her boyfriend Tyler Cole, who is also her partner in music, shave it off during a 24-hour exhibit titled “The Anxiety” that was held at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles on March 12. She said that cutting her hair was similar to shedding of six, seven years of emotional baggage.

Her parents Will and Jada were always supportive of her and brother Jaden’s decisions and let them decide their own life, so they supported her makeover as well. They always remained as their children’s cheerleaders.
