Haim, the famous Los Angeles band, has released their new video ‘Summer Girl.’ The band consists of the Haim sisters namely, Este Haim, Danielle Haim, and Alana Haim. The video premiered on 1st August 2019. The video showcases the girls roaming in the streets of the city and removing the winter clothing layers.
The sisters had collaborated again with the director of the video, Paul Thomas Anderson. Paul Anderson previously had worked with the band to direct “Right Now” and a short film about the making of their last album. “Summer Girl” was first sung in an intimate crowd in Los Angeles itself, and then it was decided to shoot the visuals.
The video also shows the girls stopping and visiting by some famous landmarks of the city like Quentin Tarantino’s theatre, New Beverly Cinema. Danielle Haim posted on Instagram about how the music and video came into existence. The caption read, “this song started as a garage band demo in my phone with just a bass line, drums, some gibberish, and a doot doot doot little melody.”
She further shared in the post itself that her partner was diagnosed with cancer while they were working on their album “Something to Tell You.” She said she was busy touring for the same and wanted to be the positive light and energy for her partner. She didn’t want him to feel dark. Therefore, she kept singing, “I am your sunny girl/I am your fuzzy girl” to him. And a few months later she bought this music over a bass line to her friend, and that’s how ‘Summer Girl.’
Haim, the band, was formed in 2007 with the younger sister, Alana. It didn’t work out very professionally for some years. It again started in 2012 as a fully operational band. ‘Forever’ was the first-ever release by the group which was received positively.
