Watch The Spooky Trailer Of Stephen King’s Newest Sci-fi Crime Movie Adaptation Of ‘The Outsider’

Stephen King is one of the most prolific writers today. He has written 61 novels and six other non-fiction works. In total, they have sold a whopping 350 million copies. And at 71, he has also conquered the book adaptations genre. His books have been made into movies and series since years back. Does anyone remember the bone-chilling thriller Misery film?

But now more than ever, his books are hot property in Hollywood. Big studios are bidding left and right for the rights of his novels. And one more has joined the ranks. King released The Outsider last year and an HBO series is already in the works. A trailer released on Thursday and here is what we could divulge from the 2 minutes.

The storyline is about solving the perfect murder. A Little League coach is arrested in the middle of a baseball match on the suspicion of murder. The teacher Terry Maitland (Jason Bateman) is the prime suspect in the killing of a boy in the town. Some people say that they even saw him commit the murder.

However, Maitland has a solid alibi – camera footage of him outside the town during the time of the crime. The detective in charge Ralph Anderson (Ben Mendelsohn) is in charge of solving this seemingly culprit-less kill. But he has to solve the mystery and we see many ominous signs that maybe the killer is someone far more powerful.

The movie features Cynthia Erivo, Derek Cecil and Max Beesley as well. It is produced and directed by Jack Bender of Mr. Mercedes’s fame. Richard Price is the executive producer along with Jason Bateman’s Aggregate Films and Temple Hill Entertainment.

King sure has a lot of projects under his belt right now. The Outsider succeeds Castle Rock – a Hulu series about a young Annie Wilkes from Misery. It has wrapped up its first season and is producing the next.
