It’s 12:00 am, ready for the stories?
Netflix has unveiled the trailer for The Midnight Club, the latest horror series from Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy. The duo had previously developed the critically acclaimed Midnight Mass, which delved into religion and vampires. While Flanagan deserves full credit for the creation of Midnight Mass, The Midnight Club is an adaptation of the book of the same name by Christopher Pike.
About The Midnight Club
The story takes place in the Rotterdam Home, a hospice where terminally-ill children reside. The place is run by a mysterious doctor, and many unknown events tend to happen. Here, a group of eight teenagers who share a love for telling horror stories at midnight gather. Their creepy club is known as the Midnight Club. It was a way for them to have some excitement before their terminal illness catches up to them, but it ends up becoming something worse.
In the trailer, we see the cast, comprising of Igby Rigney, Adia, Iman Benson, Ada Furukawa, Ruth Codd, William Chris Sumpter, Annarah Cymone, and Sauriyan Sapkota. In the short clip, we see them recite lines from a macabre poem that is referenced in the book. In the book, the teenagers make a pact that the first of them to die will return to tell the others what the afterlife looks like. But this is where they mess up, as Rotterdam Home become a hotspot for evil and an occult being stars chasing the members of the Midnight Club.
Release Date
Flanagan’s previous works for Netflix include The Haunting of Hill House, based on the Shirley Jackson novel, and The Haunting of Bly Manor, an adaptation of many books, but mainly Henry James’ The Turn of the Screw. The next one will be Edgar Allan Poe’s The Fall of the House of Usher, which already began filming in January.
The Midnight Club will be available for streaming on October 7.
