Venom 3 Potential Release and Storyline

After Tom Hardy’s anti-hero made a quick trip over to the MCU, Sony has finally confirmed Venom 3.

The threequel was hinted with the unveiling of the logo at CinemaCon on April 25, 2022, just months after producer Amy Pascal stated the film was in the “planning phases” around the time of Spider-Man: No Way Home’s release.

It’s unclear whether Andy Serkis, who directed Venom: Let There Be Carnage, will return to direct the third instalment. He has already stated that he would be willing to participate: “Yes, without a doubt. It’s a fantastic universe to explore.”

While we wait for more information, here’s everything you need to know about Venom 3.

When will Venom 3 be released in theatres?

As previously stated, Venom 3 has been confirmed, but no official release date has been set.

With Kraven the Hunter (January 13, 2023), Madame Web (July 7, 2023) and El Muerto (January 12, 2024) already confirmed, Sony has a busy couple of years ahead with its Spider-Man universe.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be released on June 2, 2023, while Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will be released on March 29, 2024.

If Venom 3 begins production in 2022, the threequel might arrive in theatres in 2024, possibly in October 2024, as the previous two films were released in October 2018 and October 2021, respectively.

For the time being, we can only speculate, so stay tuned for more information on its release date.

Who will reprise their roles in Venom 3?

We don’t have any confirmed cast members for Venom 3, but we know Tom Hardy will reprise his role as Eddie Brock and his alien sidekick Venom.

Hardy revealed in August 2018 that he had signed up for three films, all of which we think are Venom films. We’d be astonished if Hardy didn’t return in the third film, even if it contained his brief appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

It’s difficult to predict who else may return, but Stephen Graham’s Patrick Mulligan could return. After being strung up by the neck with a chain and suffering what appeared to be a serious spinal injury, he somehow survived the sequel.

He’ll almost certainly be playing Toxin, given his final minutes on TV saw him talking about monsters with blue glowing eyes. The actor kept his mouth shut, but did indicate that “there is a potential that may be investigated in the future.”

It’s unknown whether Michelle Williams will reprise her roles as Ann and She-Venom, but we can only hope. Williams didn’t get any further screen time as She-Venom in Venom: Let There Be Carnage, despite expressing interest in doing so.

A third film, with her sometimes-unwilling fiancé Dan Lewis, could provide her more opportunities to explore that (Reid Scott). We can’t envision Ann returning without Dan because the marriage appears to be fairly stable.

We expect to see more of Peggy Lu as Mrs Chen, the owner of the local convenience store, even if Venom and Eddie conclude the film on the run.

We can’t see Woody Harrelson reprising his role as Cletus Kasady/Carnage, given that the film ended with Venom eating his head off.

Similarly, given Shriek’s death at the hands of falling rubble and a giant church bell, a return for Naomie Harris would be strange… but never say never.

At this point, no narrative information for the third edition of the “Venom” trilogy have been revealed. However, there is some foreshadowing as to where Venom and Eddie will head next.

Eddie and his symbiote partner are inexplicably transferred to what looks to be the main Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline inhabited by Tom Holland’s Spider-Man during the mid-credits stinger for “Venom: Let There Be Carnage.”

While it’s clear that Venom and Spider-Man will cross paths in the future, especially with this multiverse twist in place — as “Let There Be Carnage” director Andy Serkis confirmed, “Of course it’s going to happen” — it’s unclear whether this will happen in “Venom 3,” a fourth “Spider-Man” film, or a separate “Spider-Man vs. Venom” crossover film.

Whether Venom and Spider-Man collide in “Venom 3” or not, it’s still unknown which narrative aspects from the last “Venom” film will be revisited in his next solo voyage.

The apparent death of Carnage, Venom’s comic book archenemy, is a major plot point. Meanwhile, the film establishes Stephen Graham as a major opponent, although it’s uncertain whether he will become Toxin in the same way as in the comics, as the film suggests a different method.

There’s also the possibility that Knull, the King in Black and creator of all symbiotes, will arrive on Earth. For the time being, though, this is simply supposition.

What will happen in the third instalment of Venom?

Aside from the fact that Eddie Brock is now a wanted man, we have no idea what the threequel might have in store for him and Venom.

This occurs immediately after the symbiote mentions being aware of various realities, implying that the anti-next hero’s film could be a multiverse adventure, similar to upcoming Marvel films like “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”

Of course, the mystery of whether he’ll finally face off against Spider-Man will linger, and it’s possible that it will happen in the next film. Eddie/Venom was momentarily transported to the MCU in No Way Home, but he was soon back in his own realm.

You can’t rule anything out since that the MCU has incorporated the multiverse and Morbius has its own MCU crossover.

Both Sony and Marvel’s creative teams seem eager to make it happen, while Marvel’s Kevin Feige hinted that it wasn’t up to him, adding “I believe it is most likely up to Sony. Sony owns both of those characters, as well as Venom.”

He went on to say that “it looks plausible at some time,” which may be the third film. “Of course that’s going to happen,” Serkis declared ahead of Let There Be Carnage, and Hardy has been adamant about making it happen as well.

“I don’t see why it couldn’t be done if both sides are willing and it benefits both parties. I hope and joyfully strive towards that possibility with both hands, and I would do anything to make that happen, within the bounds of corporate ethics “he stated

“But if you’re running 100 metres, it’d be crazy not to aim for the Olympics, so go for it! On that field, I’d like to play.”

With its credit scene, Morbius set up a prospective Sinister Six team-up in this universe, so Venom may be dragged into it in the third film. Anything is conceivable right now.
