‘The Magicians’ has brought another magical world to life with its four seasons. So, fans were waiting hawk-eyed for any teaser or trailer for the fifth season. Now, the 30 seconds teaser is here and fans could not stop talking about it. Breakdown of the Teaser!
The teaser shows the characters Julia (Stella Maeve), Eliot (Hale Appleman), Penny-23 (Arjun Gupta), Alice (Olivia Taylor Dudley), Margo (Summer Bishil), Kady (Jade Tailor), Fen (Brittany Curran), and Josh (Trevor Einhorn) mourning the loss of one of the beloved characters.
It shows the understanding that everyone’s way of grieving is different. No one is asked to tread a linear path to mourn their loss and get over it. Some have taken refuge in collecting themselves through deep breathing. While some are trying to blow their pain and grief in smoke and drunken haze of wine.
Specifically, one of the best lines is the advice that if you have to do something crazy to get over the grief then do it. Not that we are suggesting anything heinous but here it just fits. The magicians can live on fighting the evil as given a glimpse in the teaser.
Endgame reference!
Most importantly, when Margo exclaimed that they are going to end the endgame Eliot quips with a puzzled expression asking her when did she get the time to watch Endgame.
Now, we all know what Endgame here Eliot refers to. Though this is not the first time Endgame was used as a reference. Previously Riverdale used Endgame it in regards to referring to one of their couple ships.
Still, Eliot’s expression and exclamation turn the serious situation into a light-hearted one. And who does not love if Endgame could be somehow used to bring a smile to long faces!
Catching up on what happened!
Previously, in Season 4 the last episode ‘No Better to Be Safe Than Sorry’ saw the demise of the protagonist of the story. Quentin sacrifices himself to save his friends.
No one ever thought that the protagonist who is supposed to be imperious to death perils would suddenly die. So it surely came as a shock. But people are bittersweet about the ending as it brings his character arc a full circle.
Quentin was first seen in a psychiatric ward suffering from depression. Despite finding a place in the magical world the feeling lingered. And he asked himself in the climax of season 4 if he portrayed bravery by saving his friends or finally found a way to kill himself.
You need to watch the whole show to understand his motives and the storyline which has brought the characters to this point.
The teaser dropped for the season 5 just hours ago. The renewal of Season 5 was announced in January this year. And the series will premiere in January 2020 on Syfy.
It would be interesting to see how the magicians of Brakebills would turn out now that the main character is gone. Don’t forget to tune in to the show to know what happens next.
